Pedicures and Procrastination

I LOVE pedicures!!! Especially when there is a cute little flower on my big toes. It just plain makes me happy. I went Friday night to get this pedicure and while my tootsies were being scrubbed, polished, and massaged I sat in a very relaxing chair and was able to get some studying done.

Which brings me to my next topic: procrastination something I don't usually have a problem with but now with just 2 weeks left to finish my sociology class I keep putting off studying and the dreaded writing of a 4 page paper about what life would be like if we had to give up our cars starting tomorrow.

In leiu of school work I have been:
1. Cleaning
2. Doing lots of laundry
3. Eating
4. Working out
5. Reading other books
6. Decluttering courtesy of Flylady- I have serious issues with doing something for only 15 minutes- yesterday my little decluttering project lasted 2 hours- seriously I need mental help!
7. Talking on the phone too much- although I have to admit it has been nice but really I must get back to studying:(

I will leave you with some pics of the little people. They are truly delightful and the joys of our lives. The teen-agers are fun too but not very coopertive when it comes to taking photos- oh the joys!

Jack going on a bear hunt- I swear this kid has me wrapped around his little finger and I love it!

The girls with their new short haircuts- Marah asked for days to have her hair cut which of course meant Autumn would want hers the same way. These two are the best of friends and I try to appreciate that fact everyday because I don't know how long it will last!

A Must Have...

My wonderful friend Lori sent me this book and I now consider it a must have for all people.

I was shocked to find out I didn't even know my own love language..what the? My primary love language is physical touch followed very closely by quality time. I really would have put physical touch at least at number three- a big eye opener for me!!

For those of you who know my husband you will not be surprised to hear that when I asked him to take the 30 question quiz he informed me that he has no love language! Sometimes he is quite a delight:) After some detective work on my part I am almost certain that his primary language is acts of service. The book tells you ways to find out other people's love languages without them taking the quiz. Ken will be taking this quiz on our next date night as I will have him trapped at a resturant so I will know if I am correct. I NEED TO KNOW!!

I have to say at first I was a bit peeved that all Ken has to do is sit on the couch with me and hold my hand while I need to do actual things to speak his love language... can you say so NOT FAIR!! Anyway, after my little experiment of fixing his plate for dinner, buttering his bread, and refilling his water imagine my surprise to find him sitting with me on the couch while holding my hand most of the night- my acts of service worked and my bucket was filled up- happy times!!

I love friends who know exactly what I need even when I don't!

Sunday Thoughts...

It seems that my best ideas always come from someone else and this is no exception. On the sidebar of this blog there is a link to a Jill I know only through the blogging world. She keeps a journal just for thoughts and ideas she receives during church on Sunday. She has stacks of them! I decided now that I can actually make it through sacrament without having to take naughty children or crying babies out that I would start this lovely habit and maybe actually finish a journal. I swear I love the Jill's in my life even when I don't know them personally:) Here is a quote given this week from Elder Wirthlin:

"I urge you to examine your life. Determine where you are and what you need to do to be the kind of person you want to be. Create inspiring, noble, and righteous goals that fire your imagination and create excitement in your heart. And then keep your eye on them. Work consistently towards achieving them."
--Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

Next was 4 things we need in our life to listen to the Spirit better:
1. Humility
2. Kindness
3. Purity
4. Prioritize

My favorite is Prioritize and here's why- put God first in your life and all other things will fall into place or fall away- how awesome is that!?!

One of my other goals this year is to post on this blog more. I turned my posts and pictures from last year into a journal/scrapbook courtesy of the cutest blog on the block. It was the easiest thing ever and I'm so happy to have this fun way to journal and scrapbook!!

My Word of the Year

Last year was the first year I chose a word to focus on. That word was Believe. I think overall I did a pretty good job with it. One of the biggest things I did was go back to school. It was a hard decision but well worth it. I am enjoying the challenge and have managed to find time to study.

This year my word is BALANCE. I have tried hard this past year to get over my all or nothing thinking and it has been very difficult. I really believe that this thinking is keeping me from being the best person that I can be. I think that being out of balance has kept me from some goals that are really important to me but that I keep seeming to fail at. I have realized that in my mind if I make one mistake I think that's it- it's all over- so balance it is.

One thing that I've been reminded of recently is that when you have goals you also need a plan and I really do love a good plan to here is a bit of mine-

1. Practice yoga twice a week- yoga helps my mind to rest and gives me a respect for my body that I have been missing most of my life.
2. Be in the moment and stop thinking of all the other things I must do- there has to be a balance between enjoying life and having everything else in order.
3. Be consious of the food I'm putting into my body- find the balance between mindless eating and anal retentive food measuring and counting.

I could make this list soooo long but that is part of my issue- unattainable goals- so I'm keeping it to these simple three things for now:)

Last year I had a ring that had the word believe on it. It was helpful to have that daily reminder of my word and my goals for that year. I'm waiting for this years ring to come- for the life of me I cannot figure out how to take a picture of said ring so you can see the word- what the #@$%!!- any advice is appreciated!
